There are over 3.5 million apps currently available for download in app stores and that number is growing by the day. If you ever thought about having one of your ideas make it onto the app store, we can tell you it is definitely possible – just do it yourself!
First, we will go over the basic knowledge and tools required for application design, learning the principles of computer science and software development processes. We will then move on to the real deal: at each session participants will work in teams to plan and execute a project from start to finish.
To do this, we will use a block-based platform developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology called AppInventor. By the end of the program, you will design an app using the tools you acquire throughout the year.
Please note: high-level English is required for this class. Participants are required to bring a device with an Android operating system.
For 7th and 8th-graders. No experience with AppInventor necessary
20 weekly sessions, on Sundays, between 18:15-19:45.
