Let There Be Light

Can you really explore the world around you using light? This fascinating workshop explores the instruments mankind has invented to explore our world and the secrets they reveal.

Registration closed

Mankind discovered phenomena related to light, such as reflection, refraction, and dispersion, as far back as ancient times. But starting in the 17th century, new and more sophisticated devices were invented to this end and some of them help us see the universe in all its glory to this day.

Devices such as the microscope and telescope have revolutionized the fields of astronomy and biology, and this workshop follows the developments that led to the evolution of these optical devices. We will also explore how they help us learn more about the world, and even create our own telescope and microscope models!
