Dr. Yossi Elran
Head of the The Davidson Institute Science Education Accelerator
Yossi Elran (Yossi.firstname.lastname@example.org) heads the Science Education Accelerator at the Davidson Institute of Science Education, the educational wing of the Weizmann Institute of Science. He earned his bachelors, masters and a Ph.D. from Bar Ilan University in Israel, and has conducted post-doctoral studies in theoretical chemical physics at the Weizmann Institute of Science and the University of Toronto, studying the mathematical description of quantum phenomena within the quantum-classical regime.
In 2004, Dr. Elran joined the Davidson Institute and founded Israel’s leading popular science website: Davidson Online, which is currently being translated into English.
In 2009, Dr. Elran founded the Technology in Education Unit and was appointed its first director. The Unit aims to promote the use of technology within Davidson Institute's many activities to enhance and improve science and math education.
Dr. Elran led the international Math by Mail recreational math project and its popular science partner: Science by Mail. He coordinates the Institute's math activities including the Israeli G4G activities in honor of Martin Gardner, and the national recreational math, puzzles and games conference.
He is co-author of the "The Paper Puzzle Book".
His non-mathematical time is dedicated to running an organization that helps underprivileged children with special needs.
