Dr. Yossi Elran heads Davidson’s Center for Innovation in Science Education, formerly known as the Science Education Accelerator. He earned his bachelors, masters and PhD from Bar-Ilan University, and conducted postdoctoral studies in theoretical chemical physics at both the Weizmann Institute and the University of Toronto, studying the mathematical description of quantum phenomena within the quantum-classical regime.

Dr. Elran joined the Davidson Institute in 2004, where he founded Israel’s premier science website, Davidson Online, which offers a wide range of educational content in Hebrew, English, and Arabic.

In 2009, Dr. Elran founded Davidson’s Technology in Education Unit and was appointed its first director. This unit aims to promote the use of technology within the Davidson Institute’s many programs, in order to advance science and math education.

Dr. Elran has led the international Math by Mail recreational math project and its popular science partner, Science by Mail. He now coordinates the Institute’s math activities, including the National Recreational Math, Games, and Puzzles Festival and Conference, part of Israel’s Gathering4Gardner (G4G) activities in honor of the American writer Martin Gardner.

Dr. Elran is co-author of "The Paper Puzzle Book".

His non-mathematical time is dedicated to running an organization that helps underprivileged children with special needs.
